The Audio and Event Services Specialist provides specialized audio and general AV event support to the Boston College community. The position includes live sound support, location and studio recording, AV presentation technology services, audio production, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, consultation and event planning, office work, and student employee supervision.
Requirements
*Qualified applicants will have a minimum 3-5 years of experience in the AV and
event industry
*A minimum of 1 year of event and staff management.
.*Vocational training and experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable.
*Applicants must be knowledgeable in all aspects of audio including:
-Sound reinforcement systems of all sizes
-Analog and digital consoles
-DSP processors
-EQ, Dynamics, & Time Based Processors,
-Test equipment such as Multimeters, RTA’s, and SPL meters
-Wired and Wireless Microphones
-Networked audio transports and Digital Snakes
*A working knowledge of integrated AV systems incorporating Crestron and
Extron control and switching systems.
* Knowledge of DAW’s required
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, OSX and Windows Operating Systems.
*Excellent written and oral communication skills
*Capability to manage projects independently and as part of a collaborative team effort, and the ability to train non-technical people in the use of technology.
*The position is also expected to stay up-to-date, and learn new and emerging audio and presentation technologies.
Preffered:
* A Bachelors Degree in Audio, Multimedia, Communication, or other related AV
disciplines.
*Experience in higher education.
*Knowledge in Pro Tools a plus.
* CTS certification.

Applicants must be experienced in all aspects of live sound support, audio production, standard event management and the use of integrated AV equipment.
The position will require both A1 and A2 sound support responsibilities, as well as general administration, student employee management, management of contract positions as needed, and event request assessment and approvals.
The position will provide the Audio and Event Services Supervisor recommendations on inventory, function space needs, and new best practices.
The position will need to be able to troubleshoot, repair if possible, and provide an assessment when a repair is not possible.
The position will provide audio production support including recording, mixing, mastering, analog to digital transfers, and data file conversions.
Work schedule requires early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays based on the event schedule. Applicants must be able to lift 50lbs., have a valid driver’s license, and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
